
Wales’ number one golfer Becky Brewerton finished four (-4) under par in tied seventh position at the first event of the Ladies European Tour season, the Pegasus New Zealand Women’s Open.
Rounds of 72, 71, 69 and a final round 72 saw the Solheim Cup Star take her impressive form of 2009 into her 2010 campaign with a solid top ten finish at Pegasus Golf Club, Christchurch.
Widely tipped to win the order of merit in 2010, Becky finished the 2009 season 3rd on the Henderson money list and leading Europe for total number of pars, birdies, eagles and number of top ten finishes.
Her career-best 2009 season also included finishing as the top European Tour player at the Evian Masters, being among the top points scorers at the 2009 Solheim Cup, winning the Spanish Open by six shots and nine other top ten finishes. Brewerton also won the Golf Union of Wales Professional of the year for the second time in three years and was nominated for the BBC Wales Sports Personality.
This week is the ANZ Ladies Masters at the Royal Pines Resort, Queensland, Australia and with a strong field assembled; Becky will be pushing for another strong finish.
