Fantastic fortnight for Solheim Cup Star

24/06/2009

Ladies Tour Professional and Welsh number one ladies golfer, Becky Brewerton has enjoyed a fantastic two weeks on Ladies European tour.

Carding a final round 69 on the Sunday in difficult conditions at Rio Maior Golf Club, Portugal, Becky came through the field and finish in a tie for third place at the Ladies Open de Portugal. Only Tania Elosegui and eventual winner, Johanna Westerberg finished higher than the Solheim Cup Star.

Following extensive work with her coach Stewart Craig at the ABN AMRO Dutch Ladies Open a week earlier, Becky built on the momentum of her fourth place finish in the Netherlands to go one better in Portugal. The results see Becky move up to 11th on the Henderson Money list.

Perfectionist Brewerton, keen to maintain her form, spent last week with coach, Craig ahead of the AIB Irish Open at the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links.

At 26 years of age, Brewerton is one of the most promising talents on the Ladies European Tour. Consistently finishing within the top 15 on the European Tour order of merit, she has 17 top five finishes to her name in the five seasons she has been a touring professional.

Her maiden tour victory came at the 2007 Ladies English Open, the same year she also went on to represent Europe in the Solheim Cup Team and be named Towergate professional player of the year.
